C-isms

Mom (in the AM, before breakfast): "Sweater? It is cold?" C: "No. I want a blanket." C wraps around herself, shuffles around and says: "You have done well young Padawan, you have done well." 9/8/12
C: "A great teacher would remove the word 'impossible' from the classroom dictionaries." [Why?] "Because nothing is impossible if you set your mind to it."
Mom, lost in a park near their house, "I can't find a trail." C: "Lets blaze one!"
C: "Steph-anne Hawkins is not as smart as Einstein because Albert Einstein could do quantum physics and quantum mechanics in his head, while Steph-anne Hawkins, with all due respect, can only do physics. No offense to Steph-anne Hawkins, partially because he is the smartest man alive." Mom (in all seriousness, and remember that she is a regular reader of Scientific American): "What is quantum mechanics?" C: "It is how particles move." 9/26/11

Shin Chan

Part of the joy of India is the culture. In C's world, her favorite show (only 1 show per day) is Shin Chan. This cartoon is about a badly-behaved Japanese boy who routinely flashes his bum when he doesn't like something. He tortures his parents and has a sturdy side-kick (his dog). They out-do Calvin and Hobbes, her favorite reading material.

Shin Chan is here, in Hindi, at 1 PM. It is censored by the strict Indian national board of broadcasting, so we allow it. In the original Japanese, I am told, is it way out there.

Shin Chan is in almost every language, except English.

And we're moving back to the U.S.! No Shin Chan!

We were tracking down every possible way to download Shin Chan in Hindi. Poor Ismail has to drag himself to shop after shop to find a videorecorder (he found one in the thieves market). Then we have trouble hooking it up to our more modern TV.

Finally, we found this. HOLY SMOKES! It is on YouTube!!
